Prepare the Way is a new and vibrant organization which draws together a team of between 3 and 5 mission agencies to jointly finance the employment of a Missions Mentor. Teams are being raised up in every state of Australia. We already have teams in WA, NT and Victoria. You will be part of this growing team around Australia mentoring those who are interested in mission. You will be regularly upskilled in how to mentor and encourage those you serve. There will be a strong emphasis on prayer because God is the Lord of the Harvest. “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the Harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field.” Luke 10:2
ROLE: Harvest Mentors will encourage all those who are interested in cross cultural gospel work. Our aim is to help people discern how God is leading them. The role of the Harvest Mentor is to pray with and for, encourage, mentor, equip and bless each person. Dependence will always be on God to be doing the work of leading and guiding his people.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To prayerfully look out for, connect with and encourage those (singles, couples, groups) who are interested in mission - either face to face or by zoom, phone, social media, etc.
2. To regularly run hub (group) mission encouragement meetings - arranging some missional content and facilitating sharing and prayer for all attendees.
3. To grow your knowledge and appreciation of the three to five mission agencies you represent, as well as continually broadening your knowledge of what God is doing in the world.
4. To build good relationships with mission agencies, local church leaders and mission committees, bible colleges and university student groups with the aim of continually coming in contact with those who God is drawing into mission.
5. To develop a support team who will pray for and contribute financially to your work (A wage of 'above minimum wage' is paid for this position but you are encouraged to raise some financial support to increase that figure.)
6. To pray for and, wherever possible, take up opportunities to encourage the church to fulfil its God-given responsibility to pray for and send out labourers.
7. To participate in relevant missions community activities.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
1. Cross cultural mission experience
2. Heart for mission – demonstrated by a heart for the lost and prayer for the nations
3. Some bible training
4. Mentoring skills and experience
This role allows for flexible hours but also requires attending events that may be outside the normal 9-5 work day.
