Role: Our Learning Centre in Chad is attracting many university students, quite a few of whom are seeking to learn or improve their English. The majority are young Muslim men. This is an opportunity to teach English to willing learners as part of a Christian outreach either short term or long term. You will also get to learn a new language and live in an international cross cultural community. No previous experience of teaching English is required. The desire for English language creates the opportunity to build friendships with Muslims in a safe community environment. We have English teaching materials prepared that many have found easy to use. You will also have the chance to learn Chadian Arabic and can expect to be using it in the market soon after arrival. Being part of the WEC team, you will be expected to be an integral part of the team life with the goal of planting a mature, expanding church among the Eastern peoples of Chad.
Requirements: A good command of the English language is essential. We do accept teachers whose native language is not English. Teaching experience of any kind (Sunday School, Bible studies, etc.) is helpful, but not required. For workers coming long term we require a good level of French to be acquired before arrival. We accept both men and woman as teachers. The most important requirement is a willingness to learn and a passion for sharing Christ. Ideally teachers will be able to cover the whole school year - October to June.
