Role: We are looking for an experienced lab technician to join our team in an advisory role to provide specific training and upgrade the skills of our local staff on an intermittent basis. The clinic provides primary health care services including antenatal, maternity, paediatric, HIV and adult medical care. There is a small ward and a specialist HIV clinic. The lab provides a basic service including measuring Hb, PCV, malaria smears, sputum smears for TB, rapid diagnostic tests for HIV and RPR, CD4 count, Sickle cell solubility test, point of care creatinine, urine albumin and dipstick, and gram and India Ink stains of CSF. We also take blood for viral load, but these are analysed elsewhere.
As we’ve handed over the WEC-clinic to the local church, you would work under Gambian leadership with a mainly local team.
Besides this role, there are many opportunities to get involved with local church, youth club and village outreach. Serve the Lord in many ways in evangelism with the local church and the clinic.
Would suit a person who could do intermittent short visits of 4-6 weeks at a time, such as a retiree.
