Supervisor for C.O.M.E. (Canadian Overseas Mission Experience) program. A new supervisor will be needed end of 2024. C.O.M.E. is a project of WEC Canada to help WECers who need to improve their English so they can thrive in multi-cultural teams. This program mixes classroom experiences with mentoring and with ministry/evangelism experiences where students can work in a team situation in the community. Our goal is to serve the wider WEC world through low-cost training. Students live at the WEC headquarters in Hamilton. Preference is given to WECers who are training for a leadership role.
The supervisor receives applications and processes applicants for the COME program as well as determining the schedule and content of the program. The supervisor oversees all aspects of the running of the program, and may also teach in the program.
Duties: Send out applications and introductory material to applicants. Review received applications and assess the English level of each applicant by Skype. Prepare visa documents for applicants staying for longer than six months. Send out invitation letters to those staying for less time. Arrange for pick up and drop off students at the airport. Do initial testing when the students arrive and final testing when they leave. Prepare class schedules and also set up individual conversation times and mentoring with various staff. Organize and, as possible, teach ESL in the mornings (9 hours per week). Arrange, and possibly attend, outside activities for the participants one or two evenings a week.These could be English clubs, Bible studies or other activities. Arrange evening or weekend classes in the city for those who need them. Select and purchase curriculum materials.
