The Graduate awards in Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care provides education and training in the advanced skills of spiritual care. Graduates of these awards will have advanced knowledge and practical skills in the key components of spiritual care across the lifespan with depth in chosen areas of specialisation. Graduates will be able to apply this knowledge in professional chaplaincy or pastoral care leadership roles in the context of social, institutional, organisational, and community groups. They will be able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in the practice of spiritual and pastoral care, recognising spiritual needs reside in all people regardless of religious or secular beliefs and affiliations. The awards will prepare students for professional spiritual care ministry and mission within church and/or secular contexts.
Morling College—in partnership with BaptistCare and other industry groups—has developed a unique suite of awards in the field of Chaplaincy and Spiritual Care. These are world-class awards, designed to help people become competent chaplains in a wide range of fields. There is a lot of enthusiasm today about chaplaincy, in many industries: high school, university, aged care, health care, military, police, industry, sport, and more. The need and demand for Chaplains is growing across Australia. Competent, enthusiastic, caring, and highly trained chaplains change lives and impact communities. We are thrilled about how these new awards will develop skilled chaplains, and contribute meaningfully to Australian society and industries.
Morling offers chaplaincy and schools ministry training. Students can choose a unit on “Chaplaincy in Educational Settings” and/or “Chaplaincy Skills”, and also do a chaplaincy major in an accredited Australian College of Theology award. Our Chaplaincy Skills unit fulfils the requirements for government accreditation as a School Chaplain.
The Master of Chaplaincy & Spiritual Care degree is AQF level 9 and can be completed full-time over 2 years and provides professional training in chaplaincy & spiritual care.
Graduates will be able to operate as autonomous and professional senior pastoral care roles such as senior chaplain, director of mission, manager of spiritual care etc. Graduates will be generally employed in organisations or institutions where spiritual care is recognised to be integral to holistic care.
Duration: 2 years full time, or up to 6 years part time.
