The SMBC Graduate Diploma of Divinity is a great place to begin your theological studies and start testing where God might be preparing you to serve. At AQF level 8, it’s ideal for those who already have a non-theological undergraduate degree. It can be studied full-time or part-time.
The Graduate Diploma will give you solid biblical foundations (Old Testament and New Testament) plus open up to you the worlds of theology, church history, missions, preaching and pastoral care.
Studying the Diploma full-time will also provide you the opportunity to concurrently do the SMBC Certificate in Bible and Mission (CBM). The CBM gives you access to all the benefits of SMBC’s expertise in spiritual formation, cross-cultural mission and pastoral ministry.
The Graduate Diploma also opens up pathways to further study, for example, the Master of Divinity. The Diploma is the equivalent of the first year (full-time) of the Masters degree, which is an ideal for preparation for full-time vocational ministry. As such, it is also a possible early exit point for the Master of Divinity.
An early exit point for the Graduate Diploma of Divinity is the Graduate Certificate of Divinity (which requires 48 credit points).
The Diploma will give you a basic competency to serve in a local church or para-church ministry, or use your existing profession or trade on the mission field. Further study (the equivalent of a three year theological degree) is usually required for full-time vocational ministry.
