The Graduate Diploma in Ministry is designed to provide students with a holistic preparation for roles which bring glory to God through Christian work in both word and deed.
As Tabor’s foundational postgraduate study option, the Graduate Diploma offers students the opportunity to further build upon knowledge and skills developed in undergraduate courses (B.Min/B.Theology). This comprehensive course offers a standalone qualification while also serving as a bridge into the Master of Ministry program.
The course content studies the biblical and trinitarian basis of Christian ministry, reflects on the purpose/s and practice of ministry in its various forms, and explores the dynamics of Christian leadership. Students also have the opportunity to specialise in a particular area of scholarship including biblical studies, theological studies, spirituality and formation for ministry, or ministry practice. The Graduate Diploma in Ministry offers a diverse and relevant range of options to students and all subjects are facilitated by academics with passion and experience in Christian life and ministry.
Ministry Studies have been offered at Tabor for more than 30 years, and were borne from a desire to equip graduates with the practical abilities needed to engage in a diversity of ministry callings. In addition to their academic excellence, Tabor courses prepare students for theological and personal reflection with an aim of teaching how to think rather than what to believe. In line with our focus on personal growth, time and space is provided throughout the award for students to grow in their relationship with God and to undergo considerable spiritual formation.
Outcomes: Graduates may find employment as pastors or leaders in church or parachurch organisations. Alternatively, the course may be used as a form of personal or professional development for those already engaged in ministry. Graduates who pursue further studies may find employment within Christian tertiary education institutions.
