Course Details
The SMBC Diploma of Theology is a great place to begin your theological studies and start testing where God might be preparing you to serve. At AQF level 5, it’s ideal for those without an undergraduate degree. It can be studied full-time or part-time.
The Diploma will give you solid biblical foundations (Old Testament and New Testament) plus open up to you the worlds of theology, church history, missions, preaching and pastoral care.
Studying the Diploma full-time will also provide you the opportunity to concurrently do the SMBC Certificate in Bible and Mission (CBM). The CBM gives you access to all the benefits of SMBC’s expertise in spiritual formation, cross-cultural mission and pastoral ministry.
The Diploma also opens up pathways to further study, for example, the Associate Degree of Ministry, Bachelor of Ministry and Bachelor of Theology. It is the equivalent of the first year (full-time) of these longer degrees.
The Diploma will give you a basic competency to serve in a local church or para-church ministry, or use your existing profession or trade on the mission field. Further study, at degree level, is usually required for full-time vocational ministry.
