The primary goal of Tabor’s Diploma in Theology course is to develop graduates who have a deeper appreciation of the Christian Scriptures, faith and story and a greater ability to connect these with life in 21st century Australia.
The course consists of:
- four core subjects and
- four electives.
The core subjects provide students with an introductory understanding of the Christian Scriptures and Christian theology. The electives provide space for students to pursue their own educational and vocational outcomes, whether these be a deeper knowledge of the Scriptures, key elements of the Christian faith, or knowledge and skills relating to a specific area of Christian ministry.
The short and flexible nature of the award makes it ideal for people who are studying with specific ministry goals in mind as well as those who are looking to grow in their own understanding of the faith.
Students who are planning to focus on Spiritual Direction within the Diploma in Theology would complete the following subjects as their electives; Exploring Spiritual Direction and Deepening Spiritual Direction. Please note that choosing a focus on Spiritual Direction means this course cannot be completed within 12 months but over 24-36 month period at a part time rate.
Outcomes: Students often choose to complete a Diploma in Theology for their own personal growth and development, or to equip them for (usually voluntary) ministry roles. Graduates may find employment in local churches in associate leadership roles or seek to develop their own ministries.
