NSW Missionary Re-Entry Retreat
Re-entry Retreat (RER) is for all cross-cultural workers in transition.
Transition is a time to grieve and share the loss of leaving and to have reflection on & discussion about change and adjusting to life in Australia, not just for adults but for whole families There is an exciting concurrent program for school kids (5-12yrs) and teenagers (13-18yrs). One of the most encouraging things about this retreat is being with others who have gone through and understand the life of transitions, change and service in a cross-cultural setting. That is true for kids as well as adults, The other is having time with God to process things. This retreat offers you time alone with him (directed & un-directed) and time to talk with a facilitator, as well as time for fellowship with others.
There is no correct time to come on RER. However, experience has shown us that it is usually most helpful at between 6-18 months after returning, but we recognise that for various reasons that is not always possible, so routinely accept people from 3-24 months after returning to Australia. If you are outside that wider time range, please contact the RER team at the email below to chat first before registering as we want to make sure it is going to be helpful for you.
If you are a young adult (18-25yrs) we would also love to hear from you how we can best serve you as you assimilate back into life in Australia, and whether we can provide some separate sessions tailored to your needs.
Most of the RER facilitator team have also been on the field as missionaries or as MKs (including the kids team leaders)
Please note, there is no creche for pre-schoolers or infants. You will have to make your own arrangements for the care of any pre-school children / infants (eg. a grandparent or other carer coming in each day). Carers can book in for meals (extra cost), but there is no guarantee that separate accommodation will be available for them.
