About Crossroads Prison Ministries Australia
Crossroads Prison Ministries Australia is a small but dedicated not-for-profit organisation providing Bible study lessons to prison inmates by correspondence. We partner with mentors, churches, and volunteers to offer encouragement and spiritual growth opportunities to incarcerated individuals across Australia and the Pacific Islands. Our work is supported by a passionate team, a committed Committee of Management, and a strong connection to Crossroads USA, which provides lesson content and other resources.
About the Role
The Promotions Coordinator (Volunteer) plays a key role in sharing the impact of Crossroads’ ministry with supporters, mentors, and churches. This role involves compiling and producing three key newsletters, managing our social media presence, and overseeing our YouTube channel. By effectively communicating our mission and stories, the Promotions Coordinator will help strengthen engagement, increase awareness, and encourage ongoing support.
This is a volunteer position requiring a commitment of one day per week. As this is a newly created role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape and refine our communications approach.
Key Responsibilities
• Compile and produce the Weekly Mentor Prayer Focus, sharing prayer points for Crossroads and prayer requests from students.
• Create the Crossroads Ministry Update, a monthly newsletter updating supporters on ministry activities and opportunities to get involved.
• Develop the Mentor News newsletter, providing mentors with ongoing training, guidance, and encouragement, as well as training and inspiration for those who would like to represent Crossroads at events.
• Manage Crossroads’ YouTube channel, uploading and organising videos to engage and inspire our audience.
• Oversee social media content, ensuring our message reaches a wider audience and effectively communicates the impact of our work.
• Work closely with the Crossroads team to gather stories, testimonies, and updates that reflect the heart of the ministry.
• Ensure all communications align with Crossroads’ mission and values.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a committed Christian who is an active member of a local church and passionate about supporting prison ministry. The ideal candidate will have experience in communications, marketing, or administration, with strong writing and organisational skills. Confidence with social media and digital platforms is important, and experience with email marketing tools (Mailchimp) or graphic design software is a plus.
This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys writing, storytelling, and engaging with people through digital communication. It offers a wonderful opportunity to use your skills to share God’s work in prisons and encourage others to get involved.
We have a wonderful culture in our office because everyone is here with the same heart for Jesus. Being able to work mostly from our office is important for this role due to the ongoing need to compile content from the rest of the team.
If you are interested in this role or would like more information, we would love to hear from you.
