About Crossroads Prison Ministries Australia
Crossroads Prison Ministries Australia is a small but dedicated not-for-profit organisation providing Bible study lessons to prison inmates by correspondence. We partner with mentors, churches, and volunteers to offer encouragement and spiritual growth opportunities to incarcerated individuals across Australia and the Pacific Islands. Our work is supported by a passionate team, a committed Committee of Management, and a strong connection to Crossroads USA, which provides lesson content and other resources.
About the Role
The Bible Study Program Administrator (Volunteer) plays a key role in ensuring that students are supported throughout their journey with Crossroads. This role involves processing new student enrolments, managing lesson distribution, maintaining accurate records, and providing encouragement to students.
The position is based in our office in Prospect, Western Sydney, where volunteers enjoy a warm and supportive environment. While some tasks may be completed remotely once familiar with our systems, most volunteers find great joy in the fellowship of working together in the office.
This is a volunteer position requiring a commitment of ideally two or more days per week, though one day per week may be possible for the right applicant. Given the training investment involved, we are seeking someone who expects to volunteer for over a year.
Key Responsibilities
· Process new enrolments, setting up student profiles in our Salesforce database.
· Send lessons to students in the correct sequence and ensure smooth lesson distribution.
· Update our database when lessons are submitted, recording completed lessons, allocating them to mentors, and forwarding them for marking.
· Track lesson progress, following up with mentors who have outstanding lessons and ensuring timely feedback to students.
· Follow up with students who have not submitted a lesson in the usual timeframe to offer support and encouragement.
· Answer student queries, including requests for letters of support, Bibles, or other assistance.
· Assist in maintaining accurate records to ensure smooth communication between students, mentors, and the Crossroads team.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a committed Christian who is an active member of a local church and passionate about sharing the good news of Jesus with those in prison. The ideal candidate will have experience in administration or be very comfortable with computers and confident in processing lessons accurately and efficiently.
This role is best suited to someone who enjoys working in a team, values the fellowship of a shared mission, and is eager to serve in a meaningful way. We have a wonderful culture in our office because everyone is here with the same heart for Jesus.
