Serving refugees in the Arab world

Summer opportunities

Dr Bernie Power will be leading this team to contribute to the local church’s outreach to Syrian refugees. The trip will be from 27th Dec 2017 – 12th Jan 2018 plus an optional Israel Tour 13th – 21th Jan 2018.

Participants will be able to: teaching conversational English to classes of ten refugee students; distribute aid to refugees including bedding, cooking stoves, gas heaters, food packages, medical help; visit refugees in their homes (with an Arabic translator); participate in prayer meetings and Sunday School for children.

We are looking for people who are willing to trust God in difficult circumstances. It is for committed Christians who want to grow in their faith. This is not a holiday nor simply an exposure trip. We will be staying in accommodation arranged by the church. It will not be high quality accommodation – the living conditions may be quite sparse, and the food will be different from what you are used to. It will be winter, and could be quite cold.

Following our time with the church, there will be an optional extra week in Israel visiting the ancient Bible sites from 13th – 21th Jan.

Costs details are on the Interserve website.
